Sure, our plantations are an economic revenue stream to our partnering countries. But it doesn’t end there. Our goal is to give back to these communities and enhance the standard of living for local ranchers and their families. EMPOWER includes: Improving education, healthcare, nutrition and the further development of their basic infrastructure. For instance, Bedford recently produced an extensive out-grower’s manual to teach the local farmer how to grow jatropha. The manual is titled: “HALOW” – Helping African Landowners Win. Every effort is made to help these farmers to succeed and create a win/win outcome for all.
