Demand for Green Energy

• The combined global biodiesel and ethanol markets will reach $247 billion in sales by 2020, up from $76 billion in 2010, according to Pike Research
• Global biodiesel demand is estimated to be growing by an average annual rate of 42%
• The aviation sector consumes approximately 2 billion barrels of jet fuel per year. By 2017, the International Air Transport Association has stated that it wants 10% of its jet fuel consumption to be in the form of biodiesel. That translates into a potential market of more than 200 million barrels of biojet fuel per year
• The EU emissions trading system (ETS) aims to reduce carbon monoxide emissions of 20% by 2010 compared to 1990s levels
• 73 countries around the world have biofuel mandates
