Benefits of Biofuel
A Renewable Resource
The key drivers of energy production and the mitigation of negative climate change are pushing for a transformation in fuel sources today. A tall order for sure, but one with a viable solution: biofuels. Simply put, biofuel is any fuel prepared from biological matter (a renewable resource) as opposed to petroleum. It is a clean, mass-market, alternate energy source that meets the unprecedented demand for green energy. It reduces greenhouse gas emissions, offers better vehicle performance and an overall reduced demand for petroleum. With mandated worldwide government policies like the Kyoto Protocol and others, biofuels answers the call.
But another very unique and equally important benefit is its ability to develop local economies and create employment. Since biodiesel is produced from a wide range of feedstock (a variety of plant life, such as jatropha), there are the economic benefits of agricultural and rural development. Additionally, the production of biofuels will create new industries, stimulating further economic activity.
